STORYMIX is a fiction production company that creates books for publishers. We are not a publisher. We are a book incubator with a mission to carve out pathways into publishing for creatives of colour. We do that by creating fantastic, high concept book propositions for publishers that we pair with the right talent.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

After you've submitted, you'll receive an email confirming our receipt of your submission. 

Your submission package will be reviewed by the Storymix team within six to eight weeks.

Once we’ve done that we’ll be in touch to ask if you would like to be added to our writers and illustrators database. More often than not we’ll also come back with suggestions and opportunities to flex your writing and creative muscles. 

We are developing projects all the time and so you may not hear from us until we’ve got a project that feels like a good match for your voice, interests or illustrative style. The form you complete helps us to do that matchmaking. The sample of your writing or link to your portfolio also helps with that decision making.

If we do feel like you might be a potential match for a project we’ll have a call with you. After that, we will ask you to do a writing sample for the project we have in development. Almost like an audition piece. 

We pay a fee for these writing samples. 

We try and audition only one or two people per project and will want to see how they take on editorial comments. If you are chosen, Storymix will be pitching your writing along with a storyline and sample artwork to publishers.
